QR codes
Every Zippy link has a built-in QR code that opens the native app when scanned. On Hero and up, customize it — brand colours, the Zippy bolt logo, and a "Scan me" frame — and download it print-ready.
QR codes
Every Zippy link comes with a QR code for free — server-generated, no third-party service. Scan it and it does exactly what the link does: opens the native app where there is one, falls back to the web otherwise. A QR that actually works, not just a redirect to a dead tab.
The basic ink-on-paper QR is available on every plan. Customization — colours, logo, and frame — is a Hero power.
Basic QR (every plan)
Open any link's QR dialog to preview it and download. Two formats:
- PNG — for stories, posts, and screens.
- SVG — for print. Vector, so it stays razor-sharp at any size (posters, packaging, merch).
Customization (Hero and up)
Make the code yours:
- Colours — pick a brand combo (Classic, Volt, Magenta, Cyan, Midnight). Every combo stays high-contrast so the code always scans.
- Zippy bolt logo — drop the ⚡ bolt in the centre. The code automatically switches to high error-correction so the logo never breaks scannability.
- "Scan me" frame — add a captioned frame (your own text, up to 24 characters) so people know to point their camera at it.
Colours apply to both PNG and SVG; the logo and frame are rendered in the SVG (vector, print-ready).
It still opens the real app
However you dress it up, the QR encodes your short link — so on scan it springs the right native app (out of the camera, out of an in-app browser), exactly like tapping the link. A pretty code that still does the one thing Zippy is for.
Notes
- The QR encodes the link's short URL, which never changes — so a printed QR keeps working forever, even if you re-point the destination (living links).
- Nothing about the QR touches the redirect path; it's generated on demand and cached.
- Customization options are silently ignored (you still get the basic QR) if your plan doesn't include them — a QR always renders.
